Academic & University
I was a full-time lecturer and faculty at California State University, Dominguez Hills.
The CAAHEP and NCOPE accredited CSUDH O&P Program graduates 40-45 eligible practitioners. The curriculum totals 66 semester units, including didactic coursework, laboratory demonstration, technical fabrication, live patient model fittings, and regional clinical site rotations. I was the lead instructor and authored new course curriculum for HEA 508 - Clinical Pathology and for HEA 596 - Clinical Practicum A,B,C. I also co-instructed HEA 541 and 542 - Lower Limb Orthotics and HEA 551 and 552 - Lower Limb Prosthetics.
As a CSUDH O&P faculty member, I was an invited guest lecturer to the UC Irvine, School of Medicine, Spinal Cord Fellowship Program located on the Veterans Affairs Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS) campus. I presented lectures to medical residents PGY2-Y4 on spinal orthoses, neurological injuries, and gait rehabilitation.
Our faculty also held guest lecturer invitations to students of the CSULB Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. Classes focused on inter-discipline collaboration and O&P interventions.
From 2010-2015, I served on two committees with the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE). I served as a Regional Residency Liaison (RRL) for Region 1 - CA, NV, CO, HI, ID, UT. I facilitated new graduates throughout their residency to ensure successful completion of their term. I also reviewed accreditation renewals as a member of the Self-Accreditation Committee. This team performed on and off site reviews of all 15 U.S. O&P program curricula.
Clinical & Professional Education
I’ve presented case studies, clinical outcomes, and published summaries at all major industry conferences (ISPO, AOPA, Academy, ACA, Hanger LIVE - formerly Ed Fair) and regional meetings. These experiences range from one-on-one product demonstrations up to 150+ training certifications.
I’ve also traveled significantly as Clinical Director, Specialist, and Consultant for well-known socket technology innovators. Client accounts expanse various territories including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, U.K., and Germany. Education in these roles were equally divided between in person partnerships as well as remote virtual support.
Clinical education and professional training is closely linked to sales, marketing, R&D, and overall company strategy. The most valuable takeaway from these experiences is the tremendous growth impact possible when external relationships are successfully contextualized internally. The impact of clinical education is a critical sales facilitator and up/downstream gauge.
